I want these boards to be a success but I think the "big and empty" look could be rather dissuasive to anyone thinking of participating. There's a lot of different forums that have very little to no activity in them. I would recommend consolidating many of these forums to give the board a more compact and clean look. You can always expand again when activity picks up, but I think having 9000 different forums with 3 threads in them each doesn't look that good.
For example, the Character Write-Ups. I'd recommend leaving the Marvel forum, create a forum for Other Comics, and then a third forum for Miscellaneous Write-Ups which will be a catch-all for everything that falls outside of those boundaries. If you find activity picking up a lot and decide later it would be better to sort them, you can always do that.
I'd make the Conversions one forum and put it under the Marvel Super Heroes Adventure Game category, completely doing away with the Conversions category. You could put a sticky thread at the top of the Conversions forum indicating that posters are to indicate in their subject which type of conversion they're making, TO or FROM.
I'd combine the comic sections into one. Most people know the difference between Marvel and DC, and for anyone who doesn't it's probably not going to matter to them anyway. All of the other RPG's that aren't getting hardly any activity could be combined into one forum called Other RPG's. Or if you wanted to go a different route, you could have Other Marvel RPG's, Other DC RPG's, and Miscellaneous RPG's. Again, if activity picks up a lot on any single one of them, you can always add a more specialized board for it later.
So after you're done it might look something like this:
Marvel Super Heroes Adventure Game
- Marvel Saga Discussion Board
- House Rules
- Conversions
Character Write-Ups
- Marvel Saga Character Board
- Other Comics Character Board
- Miscellaneous Character Board
Other RPG's
- Play-By-Post Board
- Other Marvel RPG's
- Other DC RPG's
- Miscellaneous RPG's
General Discussion
- Books & Comics
- Movies & Television
- Video & Tabletop Games
- Off-Topic Discussion
Board Issues
- New Members
- Suggestions
Just my opinion. I just think less forums with a page or so of threads in each looks better than a lot of forums with 2 or 3 threads.
Please don't hit me.
