I like your version Stormangel, though I still would stick it to 4 simply to fit in with other skills that reduce difficulties. (and 4 points against most things is not a huge drop. Especially when your forgoing a dodge--and a chance at avoiding it entirely)

I still say that it should be a "full round action" for your character. It is as much something done, due to the concentration of it, as using Marksmanship. HOWEVER, this skill COULD be used in conjunction with Contingent Attack.
And as this is a defensive combat skill, it most certainly would be Strength. If you were dodging, it would be Agility - but you're not dodging, you're bracing yourself for damage. You're just doing it well.

Strength makes more sense the more I toss it in my head. It's written being a full-round action (sacrificing your attack to use this as your defense), but I probably over-wrote it.

Going through old posts, I reread this one - wow, I like Stormangel's idea here. What does anyone else think?
Should the name of the skill be renamed to something better? What should the skill's suit be?
Or should this skill not be made for whatever reason? (Though I made this skill up, I take absolutely no offense in removing it - as before rereading this post, I had removed this skill from my own notes)

What about making the skill's suit be Willpower. While an unconscious reaction it still has its roots in training to overcome instinctive flinching/flailing about/etc?
I prolly wouldn't let my two guys take it however as to a certain extent as Acrobatics and the auto-trump of All-Out Defense. Since the game is about flavor neither of the skills are necessarily about dodging out of the way but can be narrated as the character re-directing attacks on his person to areas that he knows can take them. He may suffer a few bruises for cosmetic effects however.
An interesting idea none-the-less however.

personally I like it.. but I wouldn't allow it in Combat (cuz I took Judo and know you can break fall etc. to reduce the impact but that's kinda covered under Acrobatics skill) but as is it's too broad spectrum for a good combat skill, might be a better "Adder" to skills the character already possesses like Wrestling when dealing with a throw or tackle you could use your Wrestling skill to "half the damage" from it, or Acrobatics for falling damage (which is insane if you ever actually read the rules in Reed Richards guide for it)
