Crazy thing is, my group is actually playing RIFTS again! Figured since everyone in our area is a D20 nut we would go old school. The majority of the D20 players around here are younger and have no clue what RIFTS is about.
I pity them.

I don't quite follow your train of thought.
That being said, it's great to see another person who likes RIFTS.

I don't follow my train of thought!! I was either drunk or thought I was typing in a different thread. A lot going on so my mind was a little scrambled.

So I picked up the Savage Worlds Explorer's Edition on a whim (only $10)...and I find myself wanting to play it more and more, at this point more for a fantasy game than for anything else...
Btw, more RPGs totally need $10 entry points...core rules are my least favorite things to buy (generally less fun to read, and since I no longer assume I will ever play anything I purchase, I tend to rate on readability), but I would totally spring for $10 core rules and then buy the crap outta $30 supplements.

If you go to the Savage Heroes website, you'll see tons of conversions from other systems. One such is Dungeons and Savages. The author did a great job of bringing that nolgestic feel of D&D with the artwork and even the choice of fonts.
One thing I really recommend is to print out the combat chart for your players. It is not like D&D where you hope you can whittle down your opponent with successful hits. In SW, it is very easy to hit but hard to damage. Combat really requires players to better position themselves by using tricks which are poorly explained in my book but may have been expanded in yours.
So does this mean you will pick up Deadlands Reloaded?
There are 2 fantasy settings. One is Sundered Skies. It reminds me of the video game, Skies of Arcadia. The other is Shaintar. The former is in hardcover and the latter is at the moment, PDF only though the author has stated that it will also be hardcover and be available in stores. I have the latter and the sheer variety of races and professions are awesome. It is a plot point book. The author also maintains a wiki to expand the world of Shaintar that he couldn't fit into the core book.
If you and Mad Titan are interested, I might be willing to run Shaintar or Deadlands (although my impression of a cowboy is bad...) for you guys since I'm still trying to get my Dark Heresy campaign off the ground.

I'll definitely get Deadlands Reloaded at some point...
I did download Dungeons & Savages...looks quite cool! I might be entirely up for a SW online game...although, as Mad Titan can attest, my schedule can sometimes suck for trying to play online, even PBP...=P

So I ran a short Deadlands Reloaded game last night with Savage Worlds...my first go with the system...
...and I want MORE...
Definitely get the feel that once I lock down the system, I am going to be all over this game.

Welcome to the fold!
You are yet another testimonial that SW plays a lot better than it sounds on paper.
I'm not quite there yet but next, you might soon think everything in terms of how it may look statted up in SW...
I take it you really liked Deadlands Reloaded. The next plot point book for DL is finally in the que. I'm hoping to soon see Hell on Earth in the que. I've only managed to get the core book and the companion. I had a chance a while back to get all the splatbooks but I had already spend close to $100 to get all the splatbooks for Deadlands.
So are you planning on a longer campaign with DLR?

If my players all become COMPLETELY sold on DLR, then yeah...it will be the new Deadlands system of choice.
It MAY become my new system of choice altogether if this first run was any indication.

Haven't picked up Savage Worlds yet...or Deadlands sadley but I have so many games as it is and cannot get folks to play as of late that I have become rather selective.
I have seen a Deadlands conversion for use with All Flesh Must Be Eaten and All Flesh's Fistful O' Zombies book.

It's in the back of the Fistful book...=)
Last time I ran Classic Deadlands, I used one of the adventures from Fistful in Deadlands with a little conversion.
A good time was had by all, but then my work and wrestling schedules prevented me from running it again.

Yes the real world stuff always seems to get in the way of a regular gaming session(s).
