POTSM is a constructable miniatures/card game in which you pit your ships against your opponent(s) either in a race to get the most gold or just to satisfy your repressed destructive behavior by blowing your opponents' ships.
Anyway, a new set came out dealing with the Vikings. This set had Longboats and ships made to cut through ice. The new terrains were moving ice bergs.
I decided to join my friends in playing with the new ships and had a blast. I forgot how much fun it was to construct plastic ships and how awesome they looked.
Basically, we played the default scenerio of who gets the most gold at the end of the game but I cared little for the gold and just went after the other players' ships.
So much fun and now I have a few more unique looking ships added to decorate my desk.

Yeah I was going to get into this when it first came out but, since I could not find players in this area and or wanted to get into some more collectible card/minis game a opted out of getting into it. Still it looks very awesome!

The game is great IF you play scenerios, as the default gets quite old and boring fast. My friend who runs it at our FLGS kept putting off making new scenerios and I just got bored chasing after gold and even got bored attacking other ships. I was also cutting back on collectible stuff and POTSM was one of them. I gave most of my collection (kept 50pts worth of a fleet) to another player and he was kind enough to give me his extra 10 masted junk (asian type ships).
A new set just came out dealing with the Vikings and the frozen North. The ships as usual look awesome and the floating icebergs add a new randomness to the board. This set actually was fun to play.

See how cool is that?! Vikings and such. Man Now I wish I had gotten into this game when it first came out. Only problem is nobody around here would be interested in it.

PIRATES! PIRATES!
Heehee! I'm still worked up from playing it an hour ago. There were three of us. I requested that we use the icebergs again and opening more packs we got to play all 6 versions of the iceberg (so basically every turn an iceberg moves in a random direction). I was hoping the icebergs would work for me but one of mine was the only one hit by an icerberg and left the ship crippled.
One of my opponents had crews on his ships so I went after him first. One of my ship's special ability was in eliminating a crew per turn if my ship hit successfully. We duked it out while the third player took his time reaching us. We both sunk one ship of the other but I did more damage overall. When the third player was within striking distance, we called a temporary truce and turned against the 3rd player.
The 3rd player engaged our battered ships. I fled, leaving the 2nd player to his fate. On the way back to base, one of my ship ran into an iceberg, stranding it so I was left with just one ship. It got to the base with 3 out of 5 masts still remaining. By this time, the 3rd player sunk all of the 2nd player's ships and was circling my ship out of cannon range. A special ability of the 5 masted ship was that on a roll of 5 or 6, it gets an extra action. I rolled it, left the base, managed to roll well to cripple 2 ships (they were already battered from engaging the 2nd player's ships). In the end, I finally sunk his 3 remaining ships with my full strengthened 5 masted ship. It felt good to just fight and not worry about chasing after gold.

Sweet!! PEG came out with Pirates of the Caribbean RPG. It looks awesome! I'll have to get it when I go to my FLGS. I always wanted to run a pirates game but I wasn't interested in 7th Sea or 50 Fanthoms.
Like the WizKids game, this has little to no magic and the RPG book has rules in using the constructable ships in the game.
