So, my friend and I bought a pack on a whim while waiting for people to show up for Pirates game.
it looks as though Wizards put a lot of thought into the figures but neglected everything else. Simply put, the gameplay is utter crap and while the vehicle form of the Transformers are good, the robot form looks too weird.
The thing I found laughable was that the only thing of substance gameplay wise was the stat cards and the battle tokens. The figures are not even necessary to play the game. They do nothing except as a show piece and to indicate what form they are in. The problem with transformation though is that it takes too long to put the pieces together so imagine during gameplay, your opponent wants to transform. Your just sitting there waiting for him to take apart all the fiddly parts only to reassemble them in another configuration.
Combat is nothing to get excited. It has a rock, paper, scissor mentality.
Movement. I hate to compare it to Marvel SAGA but it's pretty similar only more simplified. There is no measured movement. Only long and short range indicated by the models being apart and next to each other respectively.
This got to be Wizards most lame game. No wonder they wanted to enforce their patent. I doubt even the license combined with the patent will be able to save this game.
End of rant.
