The makers of Pirates of the Spanish Main Constructable game are coming out with a StarWars constructable game. I had passed on the WotC version because it was just way to expansive. But the WizKids packs are $5 compared to $20 for WotC's StarWars.
I think I have to stay away from my FLGS for a while...

yeah I was going to get into the WotC star wars ships game but just never bothered. Is there a link or a sneak peak of what the Wizkids one looks like?

My friend subscribes to Scrye. They had a sneak preview of it. It looks pretty neat! I'll take a closer look the next time I see him.

Sounds cool! I look forward to seeing what they look like. I don't think I will get into it but I am interested in seeing what they look like. Wonder how this is possible considering WotC has their ship game?

You know, my friend and I thought the same. If WotC has the miniatures license, how can WizKids do one too?
The only explanation I can think of is because WizKids is a card/ constructable game and not technically a miniatures game.
If it anything like Rocketman, I'm game. I just hope the constructed ships look better than Rocketman.
Anyway, I may just pick up a few packs just for the fun of constructing the ships and using it to decorate my desk.

You know I'm tempted to smite you just for taking me to that website! Now the title of this thread applies to you Since I already took the bait, I might as well say those ships look SWEET! And they don't look 2 dimensional like Rocketmen. I'm not sure if you will like the game mechanics if it is anything like Rocketmen. It was a lot more involved than Pirates but with the added complication, you had more choices in tactical maneuvers. WizKids was planning to get out 3D asteroids before Rocketmen died. I hope this revival gets them to get those asteroids out. The thing that made Rocketmen more complicated was that each ship had a certain number of action points. Each action costs a certain amount of AP. Movement might cost 1. Firing missles would cost 2. Personally, I enjoyed Rocketmen more than Pirates. I wonder how they will handle the Force in this game.

hehe, well sorry Oni but I had to post it. They do look cool and if I come across them I may pick up a couple and give the game a whirl. Even if it is something light to play with my nieces.

The game store owner went to one of those game conventions and got to play the Star Wars CSG. He said it is nothing like Rocketman. Instead the area is divided into 3 areas. Two of the areas are the reserve area for you and your opponent. The middle area is where you send ships in to engage your opponent. There is no movement measurement. You send your ship and attack any one of his ship in that area.
He said that it was fun. The game itself was OK but what made it fun and more tactical were the cards.
Anyway, that put a damper on my enthusiasm to get the game. I would have liked more of a table top miniatures game than a boardgame.
