Some stunts are more powerful than others and some limits are more deliberating than others. Without going out of breath by going into a lot of needless detail, let me just jump to the point: what do you think about a variable cost stunt system, where the more you're asking of the power's stunt, the more it costs. In other words, if your hero had Ability Boost, it would cost an additional point for everything it boosted - so your sheet might look like:
11 Ability Boost: Strength
Stunt (2): Triple Shot: Your hero gains a boost to Strength, Agility, and Leaping. Each power can be boosted simultaneously or seperately.
(In this case, the player chose at character creation to have Strength, Agility, and Leaping boosted. )
14 Lightning Speed
Stunt (3): Time Skipping: While running your hero can break the time barrier, sending himself either forward or backward in time, as though he had the Time Travel power at the intensity of Lightning Speed.
(The player paid two points to be able to not only travel forward in time, but backwards as well)
The player could also add in some disabilities. In regular MSHAG, it is rewarded the same whether you have your hero slightly limited or almost completely limited by a Limit. With a variable reward system your player could have a power limited from once every aura duration, to once every exchange, to once per session - or some other such limited table - instead of just jumping to the extreme for the same gain.
Now, I understand the point of MSHAG was to be more of a story game and less of a role-playing game, and I love that about it, but I would just like to see more fairness. Even if you don't see your space hero using his Cosmic Energy Control power all the time, doesn't mean you should have to unfairly cripple yourself in its limitability just because it is in the concept. I love character concepts, but it always seems that Joe Schmoe next to you doesn't want to be so limited and he'll take some limits, too, but walks away with a more powerful character than yours seems to be.
I don't know. Maybe I'm getting off the subject. What do you think of the idea?
