Wow, didn't see this 'intro' section! Ok, well, I'm Roman Virtue; I've been playing RPG's for almost 15 years now!!! Wow I 'inherited' the basic book when my friend got it, read it and didn;t quite 'get it'. I played a handfull of adventures of SAGA with my group untill we got Mutants and Masterminds. Now my main goal is to convert everything Marvel (and DC) SAGA into M&M. They're both based off the same system, but what I'm really looking for are characters from both universes! Anyway this seems like a nice little comunity, even though the activity here seems to have dried up lately... anyway I look foward to learing from the experts here! See you around the boards! Game On!!!

What a coincidence, I've been working on converting Mutants & Masterminds into Marvel Saga. M&M appears very well done and my only complaints against it stem from the D20 system, not M&M's design around it. As for the activity around here, yeah, it does look like its dried up a bit. Between you and I, hopefully we can change that. In the meantime, I've been working on starting conversations back up at the ol' MSHAG Yahoo Group. The address, if you don't already have it, is: games.groups.yahoo.com/group/mshag/Is your name really "Roman Virtue"? I mean, both parts of the name are real, but it just sounds too... um, how to say it? ...too fictional(?) to be real. Awesome name. I love it.

My only complaint is that it's not Marvel Saga...=)
What can I say? I found the best supers game EVAR (IMHO), and it's been hard to top.

lol In all the games that I have played since, I completely agree - I always come back to MSHAG. I never, ever leave it for too long. From the work you've contributed, both in write-ups and in just intellectual conversation, I'm glad you haven't been able to stop.

I just wish it wasn't so hard to drum up interest in it...but the cards...yeah, they kinda make that next to impossible.

No, 'Roman Virtue' is not my real name! It comes from way back as the first villan for my Vampire; The Masquerade game! It's funny though, but I did finds someone local whose last name is actually Virtue!! In all except one forum, I always use this handle, so if you see this name around, it's me! I like it too, so much in fact that I've always found a way to bring this name (and character it's acc ociated with) into almost all my games thus far! It's really hard for belive that this system is so difficult to relate to! Yes, it's differant, but that's the appeal (at least for me). My player too had a hard time with the cards, but there are resources available for this game so that you can play with dice too! I can remember when this first came out, my FLGS has a whole shelf devoted to this game (ok maybe not when it forst came out). But I can remember seeing all the sourcebooks, X-Men, Avengers, Fantastic Four, the Marvel setting sourcebook and Reed Richards Guide, etc. It's a shame this went the way of the Do-do. But I really do think there's enough of us out there to keep this alive!

Oh...what I'm referring to is the fact that it requires the cards to play. Nathan and I have kicked around a Saga 2 a few times, and one thing that would HAVE to go in the rules, IMHO, is a complete dice-based alternative.

Actually, I'm still working on it. As in, I just did some work on it just a few hours ago, and I've been doing a lot here and there every day most of December.
I'm working on a "version 1.5" first, then I'm going to a "version 2".
1.5 would have everything that everyone loves about the game, but with more detail, more options, and clearer rules.
Version 2 is taking 1.5 and actually reworking some of the mechanics that have given many people grief (except Tim Kirk, of course) and adding new rules and options to help take the guess work out of a lot of situations. It's fine the way the game is now with having the Narrator having the final say and being able to make up his own rules to make the game flow the way he wants, but I have always felt it would be nicer to actually have clear rules to fall back on. Fortunately, I've never had this happen, but I've always dredded having an argument over the rules with a player where the rules were a little too vague to even argue over. I'm not saying to take the narrating out of being the Narrator, but to help give more, clearer rules for all situations.

Well, some of the things that I'm working on for 1.5 are:
Adding exemplars to the skills, just like the powers have.
Adding descriptions to the Ability Score benchmarks - so, if you have 20 Strength, you have more information than "Ultimate Limit of Mortals" - it has weights, examples of said weights, and the sort of damage you can wreck with such strength. I have this done for all four abilities.
Adding benchmarks to all powers so that you know how fast having a 16 in Lightning Speed actually equates to.
and of course:
New Powers
New Stunts
New Limits
New Hindrances
New Skills
...and I'm trying to work out some guidelines for creating your own skills, hindrances, and powers. These aren't "Nate's houserules for making...", but they're guidelines that I'll arrive at after closely analyzing what mechanics they created for established abilities. I want everything to flow as well as if the original designers had done all of this work themselves - I don't want anything to look like it was my work.
Naturally, full credit is given to anyone who helped contribute work or rules.
