Sitting down to play Saga for the first time in ages, and I had a scenario that called for a surprise check...and read that Intellect is used for Surprise checks...
Except that every sense power, plus the Observation skill, are based off of Willpower.
Should the surprise rules be errated to reflect this?

Good question.
Intellect might be used in some cases to recover from surpise ("Oh wait its you, I expected and planned for that!" but Willpower seems to be what covers for sensory information in most cases.
It's kind of an either or situation.
I might leave it too.
Let it be flexible (after all someone can make an attack with either Strength OR agility depending on certian factors...)

Yeah...
If anything, it's one of those things that make's Saga's four attribute system kinda uneasy.

Good question. Let it be flexible (after all someone can make an attack with either Strength OR agility depending on certian factors...) True, but you attack with Agility with the appropriate skill. My vote is to have Surprise be detected by Willpower, yet Intellect can be used with the right skill. I'd have to look at the skill list to see if any there qualify - one of them probably does, or could be slightly modified to be - otherwise, it isn't too uncalled for to invent a skill for this. It would have to do something else besides help with surprises - because how often does this happen?

I think I'd invert that--Intellect is default unless you have Observation skill. (or are using a sensory power which might prevent surprise, then your using the power anyway mind you)
