When I was a kid I created a Marvel game using the Marvel trading cards that were big in about '93-'94. If my memory recalls, they had 6 stats on their back which was perfectly appropriate for a 6 sided dice. I divided all the cards up into heroes and villains, then had a huge Survivor Series-esque war where the only way to win was to completely eliminate one side. When two cards went head to head, I would roll the di to decide which stat they would compete on, then the result of the battle was judged on how the two cards compared in that stat. My little sister even played this game with me and she wasn't into comics.
I remember my most dominant cards were Galactus, Mephisto, Ego, and the Living Tribunal. I always played the Tribunal on the heroes side since they were lacking in overpowered cosmic guys.
It was a pretty simple game but I played it a lot.

Sounds pretty cool Taf! I remember those cards as well infact I think Destroyer still has some of those cards actually. I think they are the same ones. I also had a set of Marvel cards that had come out about that time.

I still have a bunch of them. If memory serves you could buy them for about 50 cents a pack back in around '93. That's back when trading cards was still a hobby that kids could enjoy where you could get a stack of 20-25 of them cheaply. Now all that I see are the super-glossy chrome-plated 24 karat gold cards that are a dollar for a package of 10.

No doubt! Cards now would have Collectors crying bloody murder if they saw you take one of those cards and put in in your spokes of your bike.

I always took pretty good care of my cards, but I got out of collecting when they started making everything glossy. It just wasn't fun to me anymore. I actually bought a set of Fleer Ultra baseball when they first came out. I thought they were pretty awesome at first, but then I realized there wasn't much I could do with them for fear of smudging or bending. I enjoyed the old fashioned Topps and Donruss cards that I could pull out and play baseball games with.
Oh yeah, my dad created a game when he was a kid to play actual baseball games with his cards. Back in his day baseball cards weren't taken as seriously as they are now, so he wrote stats and stuff all over his cards. If he hadn't played with his cards and worn them out so much, they would be worth probably over $2k. He's got Mantle, Maris, Aaron, Mays, Kofax, Musial, and all the greats of that era. Actually he HAD Musial, but he claims I lost it when I was a little kid. He had a Nolan Ryan card that he sold for about $70 in 1991. I bet it would be worth a lot more now.
