Thanks, in part, to several RPG.net threads about this game, I'm feeling nostalgic for it...
Oddly, I'm not feeling SO nostalgic that I wanna bust it out and play, especially if I have the choice between it and Saga.
But I have been compelled to read and re-read Classic stuff, in hopes of converting some of the non-character specific modules and in hopes of plucking the Good Things from this and other systems to weld onto Saga and make My Perfect System.

Well I'm currently running it so *LOL* But most of the 'good' stuff (power stunts) are in the game already, or the game handles things much differently (edges)

In case people don't know, a whole lot of the classic MSH RPG game books and modules are now available in pdf format. Most are hosted at classicmarvel.com ... also check out there message board.

I would run this game again in a heartbeat had I the players who wanted to go there. When it first came out I got the basic set for X-mas one year and never looked back as I bought up modules and other books for it. Then when Marvel Super Heroes Advanced came out I was even more stoked. We played it so much they we wore the covers right off the books and they only wrap around the books now.
Love the game and would run it again....I sadley never got my hands on SAGA! Anyone know where I can get a copy?

Ha! I did the same thing with Marvel Classic (wearing the cover off).
Saga can occasionally be found at places like TitanGames.com and Noble Knight Games...but it does tend to be hard to find.

Hmm, well I am going to have to look for Saga. Wouldn't mind giving it a go.

I frequent Classicmarvel.com quite often...Some of their character profiles I don't agree with, such as Colossus being of Unearthly Strength and Rogue Monstrous...but I like their Thanos... Their Drax is a bit much...Shift Y Strength all the time, with an optional Shift Z (with the Power Gem of course)..? Seems a bit high...

I go there as well splatt and yeah some of those ratings are a little odd. But they are a great jump off point and somewhere to start when wanting to bring said characters into the game.

You know, there is always going to be someone who will disagree with stats of published comic superheroes.
I remember when MURPG came out, a lot of people complained about certain heroes' stats. Finally, the designers got fed up and said that in the end, Marvel had the final say in a hero's stats.
Anyway, for me, I am quite happy with MURPG and Necessary Evil. Those two fit better with my lifestyle of having a job and a wife. If I was still in school, I would probably be more inclined towards a more rules heavy game.

I recently found all the Marvel Gamer's Handbooks that Splatt and I had bought down in two big binders. Thought we had lost them for good. So been getting ready to run this again. My niece saw all of it and of course was very interested. So we are going to play again.
I also found all my minis for this game, so between the paper ones and the Heroclix for the big close up battles should be a lot of fun.

There is a retro RPG based on classic Marvel called 4C. It is meant to be more generic than Marvel but uses basically the same system. Won't hurt ot check it out because it is free although you would have to register at Lulu: www.lulu.com/content/1337000
