Cartoon Action Hour (or CAH as we like to abbreviate it) is a roleplaying game dedicated to the action cartoons of the 1980s. From Transformers, GI Joe, He-Man, and Thundarr to MASK, Bravestarr, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, and a whole lot in between, Cartoon Action Hour allows you to recreate your favorite cartoons and play in their world. With Cartoon Action Hour's powerful yet flexible system you can even create your own characters and shows in the vein of the '80s action cartoons. From the pilot episode to the after-message segment to the movie, you can run any type of '80s action cartoon.from the Z-Man CAH page.Anyone played this? It was put out by Z-man games and allows players to create and play in their own 80's cartoon themed series. They brought out two hardcopy supplements; Darkness Unleashed ( A GI Joe-like group that fights off the undead.) & Metal Wars (is a Transformers-like series.) Also the main book has a Heroes of Iconia section in the back allowing for a He-man type game. I have never been able to get a group together to play this but had worked on a Thundercats campaign that took place after the cartoon series called Children of Thundera. Here is the link: www.zmangames.com/There is work currently being done on a second edition that will streamline the rules a bit more. But unsure when that version is to make its way out into stores. I know I will pick it up but until then might see if I can get a game of it off the ground. Anyone else play or run this game?

Looks vey intresting! Though you really should check out M&M, it has very flexible rules and allows you to create a wide variety of genres!

I own it, and have made a character for it, but not played it yet.

yeah, Mutants and Masterminds should be next on my list but it is hard enough to get players for the games I have (and I have A LOT) to warrant another purchase of a new game. But Cartoon Action Hour is one I would like to get off the ground. Lord knows I could get Teenagers from Outer Space players and even TOON players so you would think CAH would be a shoo in. ;D

I like Cartoon Actioun Hour more than M&M, albeit its aimed more at things like He-man, Transformers, GI Joe, than superpowered cartoons it can handle them for the most part. Cynthia (its creator) is a wonderful person, and wrote a fun game engine (I also have a credit in it for some bits of the settings.)
Of course Cynthia also said this about my superhero game: "I've seen earlier drafts of H&S and I will state that it's among the best superhero RPGs I've ever seen"

I've bid on this at least a couple times on ebay but haven't gotten it yet. Just looks like something cool to read and would go on the OOP rpg pile that I have and never play.

It is one of those neat systems that does lend itself well to pbmb or pbem or even chat if everyone knowns the system or has it.

Looks like Second edition of CAH is finally coming out soon and from what I have seen it looks really slick as compared to the first edition! This one I will double dip on for sure.

Sweet...I liked the idea of CAH, but I hated the execution...so maybe round 2 will be worth it.
