Anyone around here play/played it? I have been interested in it for years and finally decided to pick it up and give it a read.

All those splat books intimidate me.
I've heard a lot of players have a problem with the initiative mechanics. Something about ticks...
I've also heard that battles can take a pretty long time.
Personally, I'm not really into high powered campaigns.
Anyway, tell us your thoughts on it since you have the book.

i will have to give my thoughts on it once I give it that read. It is in a pile of new books and I hope to break into it in the next couple of weeks.

I've read it and have been reading it again since I would love to run a campaign in it. At the moment I have been just picking up other books in the Second Edition line and I really like the world. The system isn't anything really new to me since I am an old school WW player and the system is essentially the old WW system as far as I am seeing with some tweaks when it comes to using powers and what not. But is the Old system (which I love).
I never found the old WW intitative being an issue and it doesn't seem to be that way now. Also with the power levels these characters can dish out I don't really see Combat lasting all that long. Then again I also like to streamline systems and only use the bare bones of the system so I can focus more on the storytelling than being bogged down by tons of mechanics.

So been able to grab the last few books I was missing and now I am caught up. We are finally going to get a chance to play the bloody thing. So excited! I am debating on whether to start my players in an Age of Sorrows game (the current setting in the main book) or run a Dawn of the First Age game that takes place pretty much in the beginnings of the world of Exalted. I was thinking of starting them in the First Age and then seeing if they could survive into the Age of Sorrows making their characters very old and powerful. Also lets the players learn some of the history of the world as it changes.
Still haven't decided yet. But it is great reading. The Combat can get a bit complicated at times but the Battle Board helps and is a neat concept in keeping track of who goes and when and acts very much like a Real Time Fighting you find in Video game RPG's.
