So made a stop at my FGS and picked up my copy of Battlestar Galactica by The Margaret Weis Productions, Ltd. I also own the Serenity RPG put out by them also. From what I have read thus far this looks like a advanced/ more eleborated version of the Cortex system (their gaming mechanic) which can be easily adapted to Serenity. I really like this system and the updated rules and clarifications in BSG will be awesome to play out as well as to apply to Serenity.
Definately a game to check out.

Picked up the GM's Screen for this and was not impressed at all. For the pricetag you get a flimsy GM's screen with some lack lustre photo shot from the show and a big double sided map with the schematics for the main ships. No booklet or anything comes with it.

The company turned me off the product with the way they handled their quickstart product.
Begin rant/
IMO, if you are going to release a quickstart rule, it is implied that it is a free product allowing you to gain a glimpse of what the game is like before you buy the the book.
Instead, they wanted to charge for a not fully developed product that just gave you enough to just run a given adventure.
While I understand why they had to charge the product (they had a license to make 3 products for that setting and supposidly releasing a quickstart was considered to take up one slot), they made no mention of having to pay for it until people actually tried to get the quickstart. Also, they should have called it something else because that IMO is such a misnomer and therefore misleading.
/end rant
OK got that off my chest...

Yeah I don't get that logic at all. Suffice to say that since I picked that up I won't be buying anymore books for the BSG line. The only reason I really got the book was to get the more updated rules to integrate into the Serenity RPG (published by them.).
