I think I'm interested in checking this out as an alternative to HeroClix.
The pics I have seen on Boardgamegeek.com look sweet, and I've heard lots of good about Heroscape. Plus, it's non-collectible, but expandable, so it might be just what the doctor ordered.

Yeah, my nieces play Heroscape off and on but I could see them beam with Marvel Superheroes on the scapeboard. Also if this set sells well we could see more in the future.

You got any links? What characters do they have out currently? And most importantly, where can we get them?

Apparently, Hasbro hasn't even put up the official page yet, but they're supposed to be out in...March?
Initial set is supposed to be Captain America, Silver Surfer, Hulk, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Doom, Venom, Abomination, Thanos and Red Skull, I believe.

I honestly don't hold my breath on this getting much more support. The lack of promotion as well as it not selling well in Wal-Mart doesn't bode well. Also there is talk that the next wave of character packs are coming but anything past that may not happen. Also Wizards has taken control of the Heroscape franchise and that makes me shuddered to think that a game that was pretty much non-collectible will end up that way turning it into another money grab by Wizards as a blind booster packs.
The lasting appeal was that there would be no collectible or going out of print sets and that folks would be able to buy every set than having to spend money hand over fist to get full sets from random boosters. If it goes in this direction I think Vanilla Heroscape will die a horrible death.

I did finally purchase the core set...my son and I play it now and then...he loves it, and is beyond the basic rules, but not ready for all the advanced rules...sucks that the game's probably dead in the water.

Yeah well I am thinking I need to go out and get my hands on it and Wave 1 (if it comes out) before it disappears.

So picked this up finally on the weekend. My niece has been eyeing it up for sometime now but my sister just won't buy it for her. So I grabbed it and showed it to her. She got all excited and wanted to play...played the basic game and the first scenario (she is 5) and she kicked my butt. It was a close game coming down to Captain America and Dr. Doom.
The curse of Sotek from my GW Lizardmen days creeped upon me giving me horrid die rolls and allowing Doom to take the win. Looking forward to playing again and teaching her the Advanced Rules.
