So are there board members who own or have played this? I know I was very interested in this AND the DC version but alas I have pretty much had enough of the collectible card games. I have heard it was a very good game but I just have no interest in buying it. I think the issue I have with so many collectible card games is....they are collectible and thus, he/she with the most money will rule them all. Sure there is some strategy but I can only do so much against some one who has all the right cards and knows how to play them. With collectible cards games even the advice of Kenny Rogers cannot save you against the collectible card Aces who have all the money coming out of their sleeves.

By the time this came out, I was so burnt out on collectible games that I didn't give it a second look.

Yeah I can second that Tommy. It is too bad that games like Magic the Gathering could spoil the CCG, just as D20 has caused a ruckus amongst the rpg world.

I don't mind spending money on games that have expansions, don't get me wrong...like Munchkin, or Runebound or Chez Geek...but I don't think I wanna do the booster pack thing again...=P

yeah I agree, booster packs are out for me as well. It is one thing to be an expansion but if it has "collectible" in front of it a steer clear of it. Too much money blown on that collectible stuff and then never really played to the point of feeling I got my money's worth. But atleast they will be used by the Nieces.

I feel the same way as you do. I've burnt out on the collectable games. If I'm going to waste money on stuff I don't need, I'm going to at least know what it is I'm not eating over. Not into the crapshoot anymore.

I haven't completely burnt out on CCGs or CMGs but I have cut back a lot. There was a point when I was into 4 CCGs. When CMGs appeared, I got into 2 of those.
Now I have cut back to 1 CCG and no longer collect CMGs. Some of that money have been diverted to boardgames.

Same here, all money that would have gone to the collectible stuff goes towards boardgames. I buy more boardgames now than video games.

My FLGS had a huge blowout sell for Black Friday. One of the products on the chopping block were Vs. All booster packs were $1 with a box going for $20. The starters were $5 each.
I was so tempted...

And so my comic store gave me an X-Men vs Brotherhood starter deck like a crack dealer.

No need to worry...
That is if you have the Nintendo DS. There is a Vs cardgame in electronic form for the DS. The only thing is that the interface is terrible but if you can get passed that, the game itself is pretty decent.
IMO there is a better superhero themed cardgame called City of Heroes CCG. Whereas Vs is all about superhero teams, COH is about the individual (although you can have a sidekick in play as well).

So my dalliance with this game ended after, like, one game...all the other prospective players burnt out that fast...and so I'm done.
Anyone need some Vs cards? =P

So did you like it?
If you get the DS, you can get your fix on that system.
I'm still loving my L5R CCG.

It was pretty fun, playing with the pre-constructed decks...but when it came time to make my own, I just couldn't be bothered...=P
