What is the BEST superhero rpg overall? I am a Marvel fan and played the old Marvel RPGs and I'm trying to find the BEST system to start a new superhero rpg group in and playing converted Marvel characters in it, along with some newly rolled ones too.
Is it Mutants and Masterminds or HERO or Silver Age Sentinels or something old school like Marvel FASERIP?
I need fast action with rules that capture superhero action well with not an overload of crunch.

With the superhero genre, I'm more partial to rules light. My personal favorite is MURPG. Fights are fast and furious with very little crunch. Of all the Marvel RPGs, I think MURPG is the most flexible in creating any type of hero you want.

I had alot of trouble getting into that game. The rules seemed to leave a lot to be desired and the diceless aspect never caught on with me. I think Necessary Evil (Savage Worlds) may be my best option.
I have heard that HERO and Mutants and Masterminds are both pretty rules-heavy, crunchy games.

I have no experience with either HERO or M&M. I do have Millinium ed of HERO and that in itself was very confusing. There was way too much number crunching for my like. M&M is a very beautiful book but I don't like how it tries to balance everything. The other thing about M&M are that I heard the game can get bogged down due to calculating stacked modifiers and such and creating NPCs can be such a chore.
Necessary Evil is a decent but it is not as flexible in modifying a power to the way you want your character to use. It is a vast improvement from the core book though. Also, it is not as easy to make up new powers.
I'll agree that some parts of the rules are vague and leaves it up to the GM to interpret. The MURPG boards has helped me a lot with what was the intent of some of the confusing rules (especially with dealing with moving and attacking/defending).
The game was geared towards the non-gamer and it tried to incorporate some of the most popular elelments found in collectible games (CCGs). One element is resource management. Instead of a probability based game where the roll of a die determined the character's fate, the success of an action was determined by how much resource you put into an action.
Some people are put off by the gimmmicky nature of the stones and it takes a different way of thinking when you are allocating the stones. For example, it feels strange to first place an amount of stones in the power you are using and further allocate some of those stones towards defense and type of attack. But in effect, it does make sense because it shows his tactics. The player is free to interpret and orate his characters actions which the GM than can add/subtract modifiers depending on how the scene is visualized.
Instead of the player just saying his Cyclops attacks with his eye beam, he can put more flare into it and say that he angles the beam in such a way that it hits the Blob from behind. When the Blob tries the hurt Cyclops by throwing a crate, the GM, depending on how much stones were allocated to Blob's offense vs. those that were allocated towards Cyclops defense may interpret it as Cyclops counters by using his eye beam to blow the crates to smitherines before the crate can hit Cyclops. I found this to be an awesome way of further immersing the players into the story.
Anyway, how is your conversion coming along? Did the conversion notes help? I had a lot of fun converting an old V&V module to MURPG.

MURPG is great! One of my favourites and I think it really captures the comic book feel. Even though others are against it Heroes Unlimited is good or you could go the route of GURPS and get the newly released 4th edition books and the GURPS superpowers book.
You have many options with which to choose. I guess it depends on how rules heavy you want it to be.
