So I finally got my hands on this after it being in pre-order hell. The book looks slick and the quality is immense! The official Anima page is here: www.animarpg.com/The Fantasy Flight one is here: www.fantasyflightgames.com/anima/Looking forward to getting a game of this going at some point and even porting some critters and vehicles, weapons and the like from some of my favourite anime games/features ect. But one in particular being the Final Fantasy series.

Hopefully you did research about the rpg before odering it.
What most people have said about the book rings true.
The game system is very heavy and unintuitive. It is further complicated by the various subsystems within the game.
It took me several hours to write up a character. It will cause you a lot of confusion if you try to jump in creating a character without reading through the book at least once (I read it through twice).
That being said, Anima has grown on me. It really has potential. I really enjoy the Ki Tech subsystem. The only thing I don't like is the fiddly nature of the game. There is a lot of things to keep track of so it can cause some difficulty for the GM when running multiple NPCs.
I'm just worried about FFG's continued support. I asked them what the next supplement would be and they replied back that at the moment, they have a wait and see attitude. I took it as they won't invest money and time translating the next supplement until they are satisfied with the sales figure.
Have you gone on Anima's official site? (Not the FFG Anima site).

I've been following the game for some time and who needs to read up on it? I don't listen to others hang ups on a system since I have been playing/own different games/systems since the 80's. I am currently reading it and I don't see the problem others do? Sure it is crunchy but I played games like MERP, Heavy Gear and the like and Anima just is another game that I will play and enjoy.
I honestly don't see it being an issue to run as I run every game my group plays so this will be a joy and the world is just going to be mine to toy with. I also think the game is very GM friendly as far as making your own ideas a reality in the game.
I too worry about how much this game is supported by FFG expecially considering that I would like to see the Gamescreen and the World Book Gaia come out. But honestly if they don't support it there is enough in this main book to create tons of your own stuff. And the source material is endless.
Yes I have been lurking about the official site for sometime.

I like to read up on other people's impression of a game as well as check the game myself if possible.
A lot of the impressions were negative but what got me to check further was some aspects of the system that let you do crazy anime stuff. Unfortunately, when I went to check the rpg out at my FLGS, the book's binding was terrible. There were several pages that was loose or were on the verge of falling out. I had to go to another FLGS and looked over 2 other books before I settled on a copy.
At the moment, I'm paranoid about letting others go through that book due to the fragile nature of the binding.
Let me know what you think of it.

So far...I love it!
I am hoping to get my players together this weekend and get characters made. The game is so awesome and I cannot wait to get down to playing it. I just think the most negative responses come from newbie roleplayers who have been sucking on the tits of D20 and Wizards of the Coast for far too long.
With a complex and cinematic system such as Anima is they don't know what to do with it and the math scares them.
